about

Hi! I’m Courtney, but most people call me Court. I am a professional food and farm photographer, recipe developer, and seasonal eating enthusiast currently residing in my hometown of Houston, Texas. When I’m not playing with my food, you can usually find me puttering around my sustainable urban garden with my rescue dog Frankie.

I received formal training in anthropology and archaeology from Southern Methodist University where I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 2008. While working as an archaeologist in a small town in East Texas, I began a gluten free and vegan baking business and food blog called Sweet Miscellany to fill a creative void. I worked as an archaeologist during the week and sold baked goods, granola, and jams at my local farmers market on the weekends. It was a lot of work but it was incredibly fulfilling!

From there my love of recipe development and food photography burgeoned and eventually led to a departure from archaeology. Upon moving back to my hometown of Houston, I landed a job as a farm photographer and CSA recipe developer. I now shoot regularly for local farms, food bloggers, and have contributed to publications such as Edible Houston and Chickpea Magazine.

Think we’d be a great fit? Let’s work together! You can find my contact info on the “work with me” page.
